Block Cross-Site Tracking in Safari in iOS 11

Apple has a history of promoting and protecting user privacy. One of iOS 11's less talked about features is its furthered commitment to this endeavor, especially with Safari. At a time when every move you make online is tracked and traced by ad companies, among others, Apple is implementing new techniques to safeguard iPhone users as much as possible.

Enter cross-site tracking prevention. This setting aims to block third parties from linking your internet traffic between similar websites, limiting their ability to trace your unique browsing habits. If that sounds like an option you'd like enabled, read on to find out how it works.

Preventing Cross-Site Tracking in Safari

Making sure Safari is preventing cross-site tracking is actually pretty straightforward. In fact, you may already have the setting enabled by default.

To find it for yourself, head over to Settings –> Safari. Scroll down the page to the Privacy & Security section. Here you will find "Prevent Cross-Site Tracking." Check that the option is green, and if it isn't, tap the toggle to turn it on. That's all there is to it.
