New Reddit App, ‘Apollo’, is Now Available for the iPhone and iPad
If you have been in the market for a new Reddit client to check up on conversations from your iPhone or iPad, Apollo may fit the bill.
The app was developed by a former Apple employee, Christian Selig, who spent years crafting the experience over three years. The vision was simple enough: Speed, flexibility, and powerful enough to navigate the Reddit platform from one thread to another.
Interestingly enough, it was almost a community experience right out of the gate, with Selig and team getting “input from thousands of Redditors helping sculpt and perfect it over several years before launching.” The app includes feature like the Jump Bar, which makes it easier to navigate between one subreddit to another.
Here is the laundry list of other features baked into the Apollo app:
- Jump Bar, for super-fast hopping between subreddits
- Super-charged Media Viewer for an amazing experience viewing images, GIFs, videos, albums , and more from a variety of sources.
- Tabbed interface for easy navigating
- Incredibly powerful Markdown composer for writing comments and posts
- Full inline Imgur uploading, both images and albums
- Large or compact posts depending on your preference
- Dark mode (can be automatic)
- Fully customizable gestures
- Safari View Controller for browsing articles and links
